Sample Kyoto’s Finest with 2018 Restaurant Winter Special

This February will see Kyoto’s fine dining scene heat up like never before with 200 shops and restaurants offering a range of exciting winter specials giving visitors the opportunity to sample the finest of Kyoto’s cuisine at the most amazing prices, as part of the Kyoto Restaurant Winter Special 2018.

While it has been held for nine years, this year’s edition of the event promises to be bigger and better than ever before. Whether its classic or modern, traditional or innovative, Japanese or Western, restaurants will dish up a variety of delightful foodie feasts making for a culinary experience like no other.

“This is an incredible opportunity for the discerning traveller to sample Kyoto’s renowned food at the most attractive prices” said Alison Roberts Brown, Director of Tourism Garden, the representative of Kyoto Convention & Visitors Bureau in Australia.

“Food is a major factor for Australians when it comes to holiday decision making and Kyoto is graced with one of the world’s most spectacular cuisines that every traveller should experience at least once in their life” she added.

Commemorating the 150th anniversary of the Japanese Meiji restoration, a variety of restaurants will be serving specially recreated dishes of the Meiji period and some architecture and traditions of the era will be highlighted, enabling visitors to get to know Kyoto’s cuisine in its most authentic form.

  • Special menus are offered from among the price levels shown below. (Each restaurant has a different menu composition.)
  • 2,500yen / 3,500yen / 5,000yen / 7,500yen / 10,000yen / 12,000yen / 15,000yen (including tax and service charge)
