We review the new Sennheiser On-Ear Headphones and discover there’s loads of substance to the style.
First things first, the sound, and we’re sticklers for quality audio. I mean who wants to listen to the latest Daft Punk album and miss all the subtleties in the tunes! When it came to walking through the airport with the Momentum headphones connected to the iPhone, it was easy to zone out from the hum at the terminal and dance to check in. The sound is fantastic, with the on-ear design reducing atmospheric noise and the latest in technology providing clean, crisp audio. The bass is deep without becoming a drone and the dynamic range makes for a sensational listening experience.
Now we come to looks, and that’s where these guys really excel. While some people buy a pair of headphones for the sound, we would argue that just as many folks go for the looks. First impressions last, and Sennheiser have created a sexy little number in the Momentum On-Ear range. The look is individual, with elements of a classic and minimalist style fused with some contemporary flair. The range of colours also means there’s something for everybody, but our pick is the ivory.
In terms of comfort, the headband and ear cups are covered in super-soft Alcantara (Whatever that is) which makes them very comfortable, particularly for extended periods of time like a long-haul flight. The ear cups are also fully adjustable so you can get the ideal fit whatever your head size.
Other features include an Apple friendly design with a low-profile plug and a metal in-line volume control unit called an iRemote. It includes a microphone so you have complete control over your music and phone calls all at once.
Available at Apple, JB HiFi and Myer to name a few outlets.
